Phoenix began her love affair with music at the young age of 4 years old. She can still recall the times when most kids would be out playing with their friends that she'd be in her room recording herself over and over again with a boom box stereo singing Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston songs. She began singing in the church at age 15. Although she had been writing poems and thoughts since she was 12 yrs old, she had never fully understood melody and the elements of song writing. It wasnt until she was presented with an instrumental track and asked to write melodies to it that she realized how important songwriting really was. Phoenix was born in Santa Ana, California. She was raised by a young, single mother and her father was a heroin addict who was in and out of prison for most of her life. Due to these unfortunate circumstances, she began expressing herself through music and letting music become a main part of her healing process. After graduating Highschool, Phoenix left California to attend Arizona State University. While attending ASU, she began performing in talent shows around campus and also at open mics in the local area. Through these venues she met people who introduced her to young producers around the area. This sparked up a drive that could not be stopped. She recorded a total of 17 songs and fell in love with music all over again. She began recording while still attending school, working two jobs and performing anywhere she could. She decided to take a break from school in May of 2005 and returned home to California in hopes of further pursuing a professional music career. She has been featured on mix tapes and radio shows in New York and Seattle thanks to DJ Technic and Ronnal Ives. She is now working with many producers and songwriters including Grammy award winning songwriter/producer, Harold Lilly, (Drummer, Producer) Gorden Campbell, (Drummer, Producer) Michael Reason and God willing, she will get a publishing deal and recording contract.
